Markets witnessed a volatile trading pace all through the day and the indices ended the day in green. On closing, the BSE Sensex stood higher by 35.19 points, up by 0.1% at 34,450.77 and the NSE Nifty closed up by 20.65 points or 0.2% at 10,584.70.
The BSE Mid Cap and Small Cap index ended the day up 0.5 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively. A steady buying force picked up in healthcare, realty, consumer durables and IT sectors. Bank and auto stocks also helped the indices end the day in the green.
Out of 31 stocks in Sensex constituents, 15 stocks closed the day higher and the rest 16 fell. On the other side, among the Nifty50 pack, 27 stocks closed the day in the green, whilst the remaining 23 ended in the red.
The Sensex gainers comprise IndusInd Bank (up 3.40%), Mahindra & Mahindra (up 2.74%) Sun Pharma (up 1.74%), Asian Paints (up 1.68%), Yes Bank (up 1.49%) Kota Bank (up 1.40%).
In contrast, Shares of HDFC Bank (down 1.42%), Coal India Ltd (down 0.98%) and Hindustan Unilever Ltd (down 0.97%) stood among the top losers.
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) today made history by turning the first Indian listed IT Company to hit the USD 100 billion Market capitalization. TCS shares ended today 0.26% up at Rs 3,415.20 after hitting its fresh 52-week high of Rs. 3,557 during the day.
Shares of HDFC Bank ended lower by 0.84 percent at 1939.50 on NSE. The company reported 205 growths in Q-4 net profit.
The Indian rupee was trading at Rs 66.42 versus the US Dollar in the afternoon session, while Oil prices were trading at US dollar 68.09 at this point.
