Closing Bell- Nifty above 10,500; Sensex ends up 295 points

option call tradingKey indices Sensex, Nifty ended higher on Monday, taking cues from its Asian peers. At the closing bell, the BSE Sensex ended higher by 294.71 points to 34,300.47 and the NSE Nifty settled higher by 84.80 points to 10539.75, backed by continued buying in financial, pharma, capital goods, power and metal stocks amid positive global cues. 

Winners & Losers on NSE: Shares of Tata Steel (+4.14%), Aurobindo Pharma (+2.97%), UPL (+2.85%), YES Bank (+2.81%), IndusInd Bank (+2.80%), settled among the top gainers of the day. 

Shares of HCL Technologies (-2.49%), SBI (-2.13%), Bharat Petroleum Corpn (-1.87%), Bharti Infratel (-1.27%), and Tech Mahindra (-1.14%) stood among the losers in the Nifty50 index on Monday.

Among the sectors, Nifty PSU bank and IT indices closed in the red, while all other sectoral indices closed the day in the positive note. 

Indian Rupee was trading at Rs 64.28 against the US Dollar in the afternoon hours, while Oil prices were trading at US Dollar 60.55.

On the economic front, the govt will announce inflation data based on consumer price index for January and industrial production data for Dec 2017 to be unveiled after market hours today.

Indian equity, commodity & FX markets will remain closed on Tuesday for Maha Shivratri.
