Equity benchmark indices closed the volatile session with minor gains after hitting a record high in intraday deals.
On closing, the BSE Sensex ended at 41932.56, up by 60 points after touching intraday high and low of 41,812.28 and 42,059.45. There were 18 stocks declining, against 12 stocks advancing on the index.
The top gainers on the Senex were Eicher Motors up by 4.29 percent, Nestle India up by 3.42 percent, Zee Entertainment up by 2.79 percent and Kota Bank up by 1.64 percent.

The Nifty banking gauge settled 0.09% higher at 31,854, up 29 points at the close. The IT index ended 0.21 percent up to close at 16,381.
The consumer goods (FMCG) gauge settled 0.32 percent up at 31,338. The Auto index ended 0.13 percent greater to close at 8,396 and the Nifty metal index slipped 1.25 percent to close at 2,885.
