Key benchmark indices continued to rise higher on Friday after the unique victory of the BJP govt. On closing, the Sensex and Nifty rallied by 623 & 187 points to settle at 39434.72 up 1.61% and 11844.10, up 1.6%, respectively.
ICICI Bank mainly contributed to the index gains, thereafter by Larsen & Toubro, HDFC Bank and State bank of India.
The Sensex opened at 39076.26 and hit a high of 39,476.97 and & a low of 38,824.26. On weekly basis, the both indices rose about 4%.
During the day, eleven stocks hit their 52-week highs on the National Stock Exchange. A few of them are namely City Union Bank, Kalpataru Power, INOX Leisure and Gokaldas Exports. Out of 50-share Nifty pack, 45 shares closed in the green while only 5 stocks namely HCLTech, ONGC, TCS, NTPC and TechMahindra ended in the red. The top gainers include ICICI Bank, Vedanta, Tata Steel, BhartiAirtel and ZEEL.
