Key equity indices managed their gains for the eighth consecutive session on Monday, following a number of positive economic data that revived overall investors’ mood in spite of mixed global cues. The BSE Sensex rose 113 points at 34,305.43, while the NSE Nifty-50 index rose 47.75 points at 10,528.35.
Shares of Hero MotoCorp (up 2.02%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (up 1.88%) and Adani Ports (up 1.85%) climbed in the Sensex index, leading the pack of gainers. On the contrary, shares Tata Motors (down 4.96%) and Infosys (down 3.10%) were major losers on Sensex.
All the sectoral indices of NSE closed in green except Nifty IT and Nifty PSU Bank while Nifty Nifty Pharma, Nifty FMCG and Nifty Realty surged more than 1 percent today.
Nifty IT index went down 0.43% as lower than expected earnings figures of Infosys weighed in. Shares of Infosys fell 3.15% followed by Wipro, Infibeam Incorporation Limited, tech Mahindra, Tata Elixi and KPIT Technologies Limited, which fell 1.65% to 0.13%.
Cipla Ltd (+5.32%), Grasim Industries (+2.90%), Hero MotoCorp (+2.18%) were major gainers on National Stock Exchange, while Tata Motors (-4.78%), Infyosis (-3.15%) and Wipro (-1.65%) were major losers.
