Index pivotals extended gains to a fifth consecutive day on strong buying in heavyweights such as Reliance Industries, HDFC, HDFC Bank and Hindustan Unilever.
The Sensex closed at an enormous high of 36,548.41, up 282.48 points. The NSE Nifty finished day’s trading at 11,023.20, up 74.90 points, with 28 stock advances against 22 declines.
Reliance Industries, BCPL, Bajaaj Finance Wipro and Bajaj Finserve emerged as the top gainers in the Nifty kitty. On the other hand, UPL, Vedanta, Bajaj Auto, Infosys and Grasim ended as the top losers in the Nifty index.
Reliance Industries Limited hogged the limelight as the oil-to-telecom conglomerate reclaimed the coveted 100 billion-dollar Market capitalization on Thursday. After hitting a new 52-week highs level of Rs 1,098.80, Reliance stock closed at Rs 1,082.20, up by 4.42 percent.
On the economy frontage, Index of Industrial Production (IIP) numbers for May will be released later today which may give some indication about economic development.
