The Nifty Auto index was trading with a gain of 0.64% at 10,876.10 during mid-market trading on NSE, on Thursday.
Motherson Sumi Systems (up 1.61%) was the top gainer of the pack, followed by Amaraj Batteries (up 1.35%) and Tata Motors (up 1.25%). Hero Motor Corp (up 1.03%), Maruti Suzuki (up 0.80%), Bharat Forge (up 0.78%), Exide Industries (up 0.75) and Ashok Layland (up 0.75%) also were among the gainers.
However, Apollo Tyres (down 1.78%), MRF (down 0.58%), Bosch (down 0.50%) and Tata Motors DVR (down 0.33%) were down around that time.
Share benchmarks were trading lower amid weak global cues as a political chaos in Turkey & U.S China trade worries weighed on investor sentiment. The sustained fall of the Indian rupee and continued capital outflow in the wake of a constant rise of US dollar also hit the market.
At 1.15 pm, the NSE Nifty-50 was down 23.40 points at 11,411, while the BSE Sensex was 90 points down at 37,761-marks.
