Key benchmark Sensex picked up 318.48 points to end at 33,351.57 on Thursday’s Closing, after a sell-off in the last six trading sessions, amid positive global cues. The Nifty50 index settled the day 90.35 points, or 0.89%, up at 10,244.55. In the BSE sectorally, stocks of realty were up 1.63%, followed by bankex, energy and finance over 1 percent.
PSU Bank Index gained over 2 percent with SBI (up 4.05%), Bank of Baroda (up 1.24%), Allahabad Bank (up 1.19%), PNB (up 1.05%) and Oriental Bank of Commerce (up 1.13%).
Nifty Pharma Index ended in red. Shares of Sun Pharma (down 2.83%), Glenmark Pharma (down 1.31%), Aurobindo pharma (down 0.75%) and Cipla (down 0.72%).
Sectorally, except Nifty FMCG, metal and pharma, all other indices closed the day in the green on NSE.
NSE Toppers and Losers: In Nifty50 of NSE, shares of SBI (up 4.05%), ICICI Bank (up 3.91%), Adani Ports (up 3.44%), Reliance (up 2.39%) and Mahindra and Mahindra (up 2.29%), emerged as the top gainers. On the other hand, top losers include Sun Pharma (-2.83%), Tata Steel (-1.77%), Hindalco (-1.11%), Yes bank (-0.99%) and Tech Mahindra (-0.88%), on the Nifty50 index.
