It has been a volatile hit week for Indian stock market which in Friday’s closing ended the week with BSE Sensex gaining 78.65 points and the NSE Nifty adding higher by 41.25 points during the week. Both the headline indices ended in the positive territory on a weekly basis.
In the week ended Friday, the Sensex reclaimed the 37,948-mark and the Nifty50 closed at a record level of 11,470.75. The factors that helped the benchmark indices higher seemingly are Positive cues from the global markets, strong buying in metals, banking and FMCG sectors.
Top weekly gainers & Losers: Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd contributed during this week’s trade, which went up 9.22%. Other stocks such as ITC rose 3.94%, Infosys jumped 3.70%, Yes Bank advanced 3.07% Mahindra & Mahindra went up 2.97% on the sensitive index. On the other hand, those top weekly losers in the index were Vedanta (-6.72%), Tata Motors-DVR (-5.06%), SBI (-4.57%), HDFC (-4.48%) and L&T (-3.58%) edged lower.
Nifty Sectoral Landscape: Nifty IT index shot up 3% followed by FMCG (+2.7%), Auto index (+0.3%), Realty Index (+1.3%), whereas Infrastructure (-1.2%), Metals index (-1.1%), and the Energy index (-0.8%) went down, for the week.
