Stock Markets trend moved on negative terrain for the third day in row on Friday, the starting day of October Futures & Options series, amidst heavy selling pressed emerged in sectors such as banking, Meteal, auto and FMCG.
Metal index was the top loser in the NSE sectorally which tumbled more than 5.02 percent from the previous close led by continued fall in the global alumina prices which fell 3% in today’s trade.
All the stocks in Nifty Metal index closed in the red with Coal India losing the least with 3.3% loss. Jindal Steel was the top loser with 12.4 percent loss. Tata Steel and Vedanta tumbled over 5.2 and 3.5 percent, respectively.
Sensex closed 97.03 points lower at 36,227.14. Nifty 50 fell 47.10 points to close at 10,930.45. Top Gainers were Axis Bank, ONGC, ITC, HDFC, Wipro, while Yes Bank, Indiabulls HF, Hindalco, Hero MotoCorp, JSW Steel were top losers.
