Equity benchmark indices settled with modest losses since profit booking picked up after previous 9 days of gains. The BSE Sensex closed 0.18 percent lower at 34,331.68, while the NSE Nifty 50 Index closed at 10,526.60, down 0.11 percent in the volatile trading on Wednesday.
Majority FMCG stocks gained. Nifty FMCG Index keeps gain, up 1.74 percent. Shares of Godrej Consumer (+5.27%), Dabur India (+3.71%), ITC (+3.33%), Godrej Industries Ltd (+.2.75%), Tata Global Beverages Limited (+1.57%) Colgate Palmolive (India) Limited (+0.82%), rose, among many others, on Nifty FMCG index.
Nifty Bank index fell about 1 percent with Bank of Baroda, Axis bank, Kotak Bank, Indusind Bank, PNB, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, RBL Bank, SBI, Federal bank falling between 3.79% to 0.15%
Gainers & Losers on NSE: ITC (+3.33%), Wipro (+2.90%), UltraTech (+2.29%) Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (+2.22%) and Gail India (+2.01%) were top gainers. However, shares of Hindustan Petroleum Corp, Axis bank, Titan Company, Lupin and Tech Mahindra were losing sheen on NSE.
The financial results of Tata Consultancy Services and IndusInd Bank, for the quarter ended March 2018, will be declared on Thursday, 19 April, 2018, and their stocks will be reacted based on the results, in the coming days.
