Benchmark equity indices Nifty and Sensex rose for sixth day in row on Thursday, led by gains in information technology (IT) stocks on the back of strong global cue and macro-economic indicators.
The sensitive index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) went up 160.69 points to close at 34,101.13 and the Nifty-50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) finished trading on 10,458.65, up 41.50 points.
Nifty IT index gained 3.21 percent, with the sector hoping encouraging results in the January-March 2018 quarter. Effectively, shares of Tata Consultancy Services and IT major Infosys Limited scaled 4.4 percent and 3.54 percent, respectively.
Nifty Metal index fell 1.38% with SAIL India, Vedanta, Hindustan Zinc, Tata Steel, Jindal Steel, JWS steel, among some others.
Nifty pharma index came in for losses 0.88% with Lupin, Dr. Reddys. Sun Pharma, Aurbindo pharma as major losers fell 2.11 percent to 1.00 percent in range.
Closing Bell Gainers and Losers: HCL Technologies Limited, Tata Consultancy Services (+4. 40%), Infosys Limited (+3.54%) were top Gainers on NSE, while Losers namely Vedanta Ltd (-2.39%), Lupin (-2.11%) and Dr., Reddy’s Laboratories (-1.94%)
