Banking Stocks Lead, HDFC Bank Among 52-Week Highs

Markets witnessed marginal selling force in the closing hour of the trade with Sensex closing 18pts lower at 38,963.26 and Nifty ended marginally lower by 12.5-pts to at 11,712.25

Shares of HDFC Bank rose near 1pc intraday high on Friday to touch an all-time high level of Rs 2,378 per share on NSE. However, at closing hours, it reduced some gains and closed at Rs.2365 per share, up by 0.39percent. The stock hit a 52-week high in two consecutive sessions, Thursday and Friday. 

Meantime, Nifty Bank index 0.83% with major gains in Federal Bank, Bank of Baroda and ICICI Bank. Banking stocks were rallying for the second repeated session. A total of sixteen stocks listed on NSE have touched new 52-week highs on Friday, including, KotakMahindra Bank, Bata India, Reliance Industries and Bajaj Finance Ltd.

The Nifty lowers were TCS (-3.54%), Britannia (-2.89%), Tech Mahindra (-2.61%). Top Gainers  were Indiabulls HF (+4.15%), Airtel (+2.64) and NTPC (+2.07%).
