Domestic stocks closed higher on Monday, as IT bellwether Infosys emerged to an all-time high on the back of inspiring quarterly results and a hike in revenue forecast.
The NSE Nifty50 index closed up 0.35.86 points at 11,588.35, while the frontline BSE Sensex settled 160 points higher at 38,896.71.
Infosys, SunPharma, TechMahindra, and Maruti were top gainers on the Nifty50 while Indiabull-Housing, IndusInd Bank, BhartiAirtel, and YESBank led the losses.
Shares of Infosys spurted 7.24% to Rs. 779.40 per share to a record closing high, while Sun Pharma advanced 3.12% after Morgan Stanley upgraded the stock.
Shares of DHFL slipped 29.78% to Rs.48.10 to its worst closing level, after it reported a net loss of for the March quarter.
Sectoral gauges closed mixed for the day with Nifty IT gained 2.85% followed by Nifty Pharma which was up 1.07%. Meanwhile, Nifty PSU Bank was the most terrible performing sector, down 2.56%. Nifty Bank &Nifty Private Bank also declined 0.50 and 0.60% respectively.
