The banking indices went up smartly in comparison to other indices. A significant buying force was observed in the media index, followed by realty sectors. The Media index of the Nifty advanced by 2.8-pc, followed by Private Bank, up 1.3-pc and Realty rose 0.7-pc. However, Nifty FMCG declined 0.46-pc, IT slipped 0.53-pc and Auto declined 0.22-pc.
