The Indian stocks benchmarks opened flat on Monday as Asian markets have seen quite. Moving between gains and losses, the BSE Sensex was trading 26.60 points lower at 40,418.55, while the Nifty50 index traded 5.40 points or 0.16 percent lower at 11,916-mark at 10.25-am.
HCL Tech, TCS, Hindustan Unilever, Bharti Infratel and TechMahidnra were major losers in the Nifty, while Maruti, Tat Motors, YesBank, Zeel, and Vedanta were gainers.
The Nifty Auto remained the top-performing index, rising 1.44 pc, while the Nifty IT index slipped the most, down 0.59 pc. Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, and Motherson Sumi were the major gainers in the Auto index.
Also, Nifty Media, Metal, Pharma and PSU Bank were trading higher, up to 0.80%. Dish TV, Zeel and RadioCity gained between 1.5 to 85 in range.
