Two benchmarks – Sensex and Nifty – continued their losing streak and ended for the day by over 1 percent, and market extended their falls for nine consecutive days.
The top stocks that brought BSE index down were Sun Pharma, Yes Bank and, Tata Steel with Sensex index falling 372-points at 37090-levels. The top stocks that dragged NSE benchmark were Eicher Motors, Zeel and Sun Pharma sequentially with Nifty index falling 130 points at 11,148-marks. Titan, HDFC, Infratel and Tech Mahindra were top Niftygainers.
Tata Motors share price ended lower by 3.07% as its group global sales trimmed by 22% to 79,923 units.
Shares of cigarette maker ITC Ltd closed 3.01% lower at Rs288.80 apiece, even after the company reported an 18.7% rise in its Q4 earnings to Rs3,482-crore.
