Markets frontline indices ended higher for a second consecutive day on Wednesday ahead of the expiry of June series F&O (futures & options)
BSE Sensex zoomed 157pts to 39,592 while NSE Nifty 50 index ended at 11,848, up 51pts at close.
BSE Mid-Cap and small-cap shares seen buying interest as their indices rose 0.85% in MidCap and 0.47% in SmallCap
Vedanta was top index gainer both on NSE and BSE. The stock rose over 5% to Rs179-per share on the NSE, followed by JSW Steel, PowerGrid and Sun Pharma, up between 3.36 and 4.03% in range. Conversely, Britannia, Indiabulls, Infosys, IndusInd Bank led the loss.
Among buzzing stocks, shares of L&T zoomed 1.43% to Rs1557-per share while Mindtree slipped the same percentage (-1.43%) to Rs.938.80 per share, after the former completes acquiring Controlling Stake in the latter.
