The Nifty and Sensex benchmarks dropped in trade on Wednesday tacking falls in Asian markets.
Asian shares slipped with the Nikkei of Japan down 1.8-percent during the morning session, while the Kospi index of South Korea slipped 1.67% and Kosdaq index fell 1.46 percent.
Meantime, the rupee belongs to India opened higher by 14-ps at 71.76/USD as against its last close of 71.88.
At 10.25-am, the Indian benchmark Sensex declined 277 points at 40003-level, while the NSE Nifty slipped 88 points in trade. Among sectoral indices, the Nifty Metal stocks slipped sharply for the third consecutive session, down by 1.30 percent with Jindal Steel, Hindalco, Welspun Corp and MOIL among the losers in trade. Nifty Auto, Nifty Realty, and Nifty Media also see major falling up to 1.20 percent. In the Nifty-fifty, major gainers include Yes Bank, Asian paints, Ultratech, Hindustan Unilever and Britannia. On the downside, Gail India, Tata Motors, Hindalco, Sun Pharma, and Eicher Motors, were among the top losers.
