Markets suffered the second straight weekly loss with high volatility during the week. The SmallCap & the MidCap stocks outperformed the benchmark Sensex. On a weekly basis, both the Sensex and Nifty slipped 0.3 percent each.
On Friday, 3-January, the Sensex declined 110-pts or 0.27% weekly basis to close at 41,464.61. The index for the day closed lower by 162 points.
Likewise, the Nifty50 index declined 19-pts points or 0.16-pc for the week to close at 12,226.65. The Nifty index for the day lost 55.55 points or 0.45%
TCS, Sun Pharma, Gail India, HCL Tech and Infosys were the top gainers on the Nifty, while Zeel, Bharti Infratel, Asian paints, Axis Bank and Eicher Motors slipped for the day. Get the Free trading tips and the latest stock tips updates from the experts.
Shares of oil-marketing Cos ((OMC) such as Bharat-Petroleum-Corp (BPCL) and Hindustan-Petroleum-Corp (HPCL) ended 0.83 & 2.15-percent lower, respectively, while the Nifty Energy index slipped 0.46%.
Shares of IT companies gained with TCS closing 2% higher, and was the top biggest gainer on the Nifty50.
The benchmark Nifty recorded a weekly
loss of about 0.3% at the end of the week. Tata Motors and
Indiabulls Housing were the top Nifty weekly gainers, while ZEEL and
Bajaj Auto were the top losers for the week.
