The Nifty and Sensex benchmarks dropped again in the morning session Thursday tacking falls in Asian markets. Meantime, the rupee belongs to India opened flat at 71.65/USD against the previous close of 71.66.
At 10.27-am, the Indian benchmark Sensex declined 418 points at 39470-level, while the NSE Nifty slipped 123 points at 11554 in trade.
Among sectoral indices, the Nifty Realty stocks slipped sharply for the second consecutive session, down by 2.72 percent with Godrej Properties, Phonix and Prestige Estates among the losers in trade.
In the Nifty-fifty stocks, major gainers include Yes Bank, Titan Company, Sun Pharma and Kotak Bank. On the downside, JSW Steel, IndusInd Bank, Vedanta, Mahindra and Mahindra, and Cipla, were among the top losers.
Asian markets were trading weak with Japan’s Nikkei down 2-pc and the Hang Sang down 1-pc.
