Stock market benchmark indices Sensex Nifty ended lower in volatile session on Wednesday led by losses in PSU bank, metal and auto stocks. The Sensex closed 174-pts lower at 38,557.
The NSE Nifty index also closed lower at 11,499, down by 57-pts, with losses were drawn by Bajaj finance, Indiabulls Housing, Bajaj finserve, Tata Steel and BPCL.
Sectorally Nifty Bank index settled 0.15% lower at 30,522.10 and Nifty IT ended 0.56% lower to settle at 15,168.60.
Nifty FMCG gauge closed lower, down 0.57% at 29,154.25 while Auto index ended 1.08% lower to settle at 7,511.15. Nifty Metal index also ended 1.13% lower to settle at 2,756.45.
Most stocks in the AutoSector witnessed selling to a great extent. TVS Motor closed down 2.58%, Tata Motors slumped 2.50%, Bharat Forg slipped 2.33%, Hero Motor Corp down 1.80%, while Ashok Leyland and MRF went up over 1% each.
The top stocks that hit 52-week low-level on the NSE include PC Jewellers, Reliance Power, JSW Steel, Gail India and Sun TV.
