The market cheered with exit poll outcome that signaled an easy win for the BJP in both Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections that helped the benchmark indices gain big on Friday.
The 30-share Index added 216 points to settle the day at 33,462.97, with Mahindra & Mahindra (up 3.56%) being the top gainer and Cipla the great loser. The NSE Nifty50 index of NSE added 81 points or 0.79% to settle the day at 10,333 with 33 stocks in the green and the rest 17 in the red.
Stocks to spot out in view of Friday’s performance:-
HDFC Bank: Shares of HDFC Bank surged 2.7% to a record high of Rs 1,888 on reports that the bank might consider a fund-raising proposal by selling shares through QIP. HDFC Bank is also considering a preferential issue to parent Housing Development Finance Corporation. The stock settled at Rs 1,873.05 apiece, up 2% on BSE.
Metal stocks: Shares of the metal companies were on fire that witnessed Nifty Metal index gain 2.66% or 95 points to settle at 3,666 with 13 out of 15 shares ending in the green and two in the red. Shares of Vedanta (+5%) reached the top on the Nifty pack gain, followed by JSW Steel (+3.65%) and MOIL Ltd (+3.41).
YES Bank: Shares of private lender YES Bank settled 4% higher at Rs 316 on BSE. The stock will be added in Sensex from Monday. Yes Bank Shares settled at Rs 1680.95 apiece on BSE, up 2%.
