The Indian stock market indices opened the day marginally lower on Tuesday, in spite of strong global cues, as investor sentiments were conquered by the inflation data reported yesterday. The December CPI inflation recorded at 7.35-pc as compared to 5.54-pc in the month of November.
The Sensex traded 15 points higher at 41,875 while the Nifty50 stood at 12,341, up 12 points at 10.28-am.

Vedanta, Tata Steel, TCS, Gail India and Zee Entertainment were the top gainers in the Nifty50 while YES Bank, L&T, UPL, Ultratech Cement and Kotak Bank remained the top losers.
Nifty Metal was up 1.04 percent followed by Nifty IT (up 0.85pc), and Nifty Media, up by 0.46 percent. Meanwhile, Nifty Bank, Financial Service, Private bank and Realty slipped to some extent.
