Market closed with Nifty at 9,857 level, up by 4.5 pts, while Sensex closed at 31,596 level, up by 28 pts. Nifty traded in a tight tapered range throughout the Thursday’s trade. The Nifty index has registered marginal gain of 3 points in this week. Pharma stocks gained the most during the day. Nifty Pharma index ended at 8902 level, up by 286 pts or 3.32 percent, outperforming the major indices in the market. Stock of Cadila Healthcare was the top gainer in the index ending with gains of 6.56 percent at Rs 493 per share, while Divi’s Lab closed up by 5.73 percent. The stock price of, Avenue Supermarts rose by about 3% during intraday trade today, surpassing the Rs 1000 milestone for the first time. The market cap of the Supermart chain operator crossed Rs 63000 crore which is higher than at least 13 Nifty50 companies which include Dabur and Britannia Industries, Lupin, Cipla, Cadila Healthcare, Dr Reddy’s and Aurobindo Pharma.
