On Friday, the Sensex closed at 41,613-levels, up by 0.55% or 227 points, while the Nifty closed the session at 12,248 levels, up by 0.56% or 68 points, led mainly by banking stocks, investors optimistic for the release of the Union Budget-2020 next week.
Friday’s top five gainers on NSE Nifty were Yes bank up by 3.91%, Ultratech Cement up by 2.58%, Britannia up by 2.44% Tech Mahindra up by 2.33% and Axis Bank up by 2.21%. On downside, PowerGrid slipped 2.45%, followed by Cipla down by 1.38% and IndusInd Bank down by 1.06 percent.
The Nifty Bank index ended 0.77% higher at 31,241.75, with Yes bank, Axis bank,Federal bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank and ICICI Bank 1.47 to 3.91 percent each.
